CONTENT: Methods
and Materials and Techniques
Students will demonstrate the ability to create 2D and 3D works that show knowledge of unique characteristics of particular media. Students will explore a single subject through a series of works, varying the medium or technique. CONTENT: Purpose and Meaning in the Arts Students will describe the purposes for which works of dance, music, theater, visual arts, and architecture were and are created, and, when appropriate, interpret their meaning. CONTENT:Concepts of Style, Stylistic Influence, and Stylistic Changes. Students will demonstrate their concepts of style, stylistic influence and stylistic change by identifying when art works were created and by analyzing characteristics features of art works from various historical periods, cultures and genres. PERFORMANCE: Students create a portfolio of original 2D works of art :drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media. Students will demonstrate skill in 2D and 3D art media. Students will complete a portfolio of their art work in a variety of media. Students will be able to recognize works of famous artists and significant works of art from different periods. |

CONTENT: Elements
and Principles of Design
Apply knowledge of color theory to a project focusing on the use of complimentary colors. Be able to use values of colors in wet and dry media to create the illusion of 3D form on 2D surface Students will use color, line, texture, shape, and form in 2D and 3D work and identify the use of these elements in wet and dry media to create the illusion of 3D form on 2D surface CONTENT: Purpose and Meaning in the Arts Students will describe the purposes for which works of dance, music, theater, visual arts, and architecture were and are created, and, when appropriate, interpret their meaning. CONTENT:Concepts of Style, Stylistic Influence, and Stylistic Changes. CONTENT: Observation,
Abstraction, Invention, and Expression Students
will create representation 2D artwork from direct observation and from
memory that convincigly portrays 3D space and the objects and people within
that space.

PERFORMANCE: Test Open Ended Questions Students will create a portfolio of original 2D works of art using a variety of art media and techniques. Students will demonstrate skill in 2D and 3D art media. Students will compile a portfolio of their art work in a variety of art media. Students will be able to recognize works of famous artists and significant works of art from different periods.
