Science: Inquiry
|
CONTENT: Computer
Architecture .Describe current
and emerging computer architecture; configure, install, and upgrade hardware
systems; and diagnose and repair hardware problems.
Write compositions with a clear focus, developing the composition with logically related ideas.. Interpret data in the light of experimental findings and appropriate scientific and technological knowledge and understanding. PERFORMANCE: Students will make a a drawing of a computer and it's parts. they will explain he function of each piece. Students will draw a schematic of the internal components of their computer part, paying attention to location and connections. They will disassemble the components, and then finally, reassemble the computer correctly. |

Application Software .Identify,
select, evaluate, use, install, upgrade, and customize application software;
diagnose and solve problems occurring from an application software's installation
and use. Write compositions with a clear focus, developing the composition
with logically related ideas.. Obtain information by using a variety of
media and evaluate the quality of information obtained. Explore, identify,
analyze, and extend patterns in mathematical and real world situations.
Articulate and represent number and date relationships using words,
tables, graphs and rules
PERFORMANCE: Students will produce a Holiday Budget spreadsheet which contains labels, values, formulas and functions. they will also produce a well written, word processed document detailing their procedures, thought processes and final outcomes. |
Software and Operating Systems |

CONTENT: Operating
systems, Environments and Utilities .Identify,
select, evaluate, use, customize, and diagnose and solve problems with
various types of operating systems. Describe various operating systems;
describe emerging operating system technology; use operating system commands;
import, export and merge data; compare and contrast the functions
of and features of different operating systems; select operating systems,
etc.. .appropriate to specific hardware and software. Write compositions
with a clear focus, developing the composition with logically related ideas..
PERFORMANCE: Students will format and label a floppy disk, and copy a file from the C drive to the A drive using DOS commands. |

CONTENT: Problem
solving using networking and communications systems.. Use,
select, evaluate, install, customize, plan, design, and diagnose and solve
problems with communications and networking systems. Write compositions
with a clear focus, developing the composition with logically related ideas.
Explore, identify, analyze, and extend patterns in mathematical and real
world situations. Articulate and represent number and date relationships
using words, tables, graphs and rules. Discover and use patterns
and functions to solve problems.
PERFORMANCE: Students will create a word processed document or guidebook, which contains an itinerary for a flight, a hotel, and transportation for a stay in another part of the country. Included in this document should be itemized costs for each component, including rental car as well as total weekly cost figures for the entire trip. |
